Festive Ways to Decorate with Live Greens

Try classic Christmas details that center on natural elements like greenery and berries to enliven your home this season.

Inspired to decorate with fresh greenery for your Christmas displays this year? Boughs of green are an obvious building block for a wreath—but there are plenty of other options, too.

Cascading Greenery. Trim a tower of graduated terra-cotta pottery with evergreen clippings, berry branches and bird ornaments to create this nature-themed centerpiece. Click here for larger image
Framed in Fruit. Dress up a window with this garland featuring pinecones, orange slices and cinnamon sticks. The fragrance alone will keep you dreaming of the holidays. Dry orange slices in the oven on low heat for several hours. When completely dry, thread twine through the center opening of each slice, and tie them individually onto your garland. Make bundles of three cinnamon sticks, and tie them onto the garland as well. Click here for larger image
Small but Mighty. Thread mini peat pots with green twine to make simple yet stunning greenery holders. Insert plastic liners if you want to keep your branches in water. Click here for larger image
Petite Delight. Nestle a few evergreen sprigs and berries into a scoop for an irresistible display that can be added to a larger vignette or any space that needs an extra dose of Christmas cheer. Click here for larger image
