Chalk It Up

A collection of chalkware Santas snuggled amid tiny Christmas lights and faux greenery line a peg rack above the guest bed. A heart-shaped ornament, a soft-green stocking and a row of dark-red taper candles hang from the pegs, adding country charm to the space.

Shelf Life

Margie keeps her early redware on the shelves of her buttery, which is sandwiched between the back door on the right, and the pantry and wine cellar to the left. Antique treenware and redware display handmade potpourri mix, cinnamon sticks, faux holly, mulling spice, handpicked wild hazelnuts and walnuts. An electric candle on the back door gets a yuletide boost from a miniature holiday wreath.

Hearth to Hearth

The conservatory’s high ceilings, large windows and great view of the magnificent herb garden make it the perfect gathering place year-round. Blooming narcissus and a flowering rosemary wreath spread their delightful fragrance in the light-filled space. On the mantel, silvery feathers add shimmer to a pretty green swag dotted with red berries.

A Quick Study

A bright poinsettia plant and a few bits of holly lend seasonal charm to an antique desk topped with a sage green candle, a white quill and other old fashioned accents.

Green Scene

Nestled in a bed of greenery and Christmas lights, an early wood trencher full of chestnuts holds a red candle perched on a pile of rose hips inside a glass chimney. A pewter star and plate pick up the glow of the candle, and an early 1800s oil portrait at left counters a deep amber glass decanter at right.
